When you save a Selleasy AI campaign, recommendations are not instantly generated for every eligible trigger product in the campaign. They are generated gradually through a warming-up process:
- Each trigger product page must be loaded at least once, or the trigger product must be added to the cart, depending on the campaign type (either by you or your customers).
- Once AI generates a recommendation for a product, it will remain available whenever that product is viewed/added.
- Over time, as more customers browse your store, more recommendations are generated automatically.
You can remove this wait by pre-generating recommendations ahead of time.
1. When should you pre-generate?
- Before testing the campaign. Generate the products you plan to open yourself, so you don't have to wait on each one.
- Before launching or promoting a campaign. Make sure your first shoppers see recommendations straight away.
- After changing the campaign settings. Get fresh recommendations ready based on the new settings.
2. Start pre-generating
You can start from two places.
From the campaign
- In the Offer products section, go to the “When will recommendations get generated?” box.
- Click "Generate new".
From the "Test in store" pop-up
- Go to "Test in store" in your campaign.
- Click "Pick few products to generate".
3. Option A: Pick products to generate
This is best for testing. Choose only the products you plan to open yourself.
- Select "Pick products to test" and click "Pick products".
- The list shows the trigger products in this campaign. Use the search bar to find a product.
- Select the products you want to generate.
- Click "Generate".
- The Recommendation History pop-up will open automatically, showing the selected products for which recommendation generation has been triggered. After a few seconds, the generated recommendations will be displayed.
4. Option B: Generate all eligible products
This generates recommendations for every trigger product in the campaign.
- Select "Generate for all eligible products". It shows the number of products and the estimated credits.
- Click “Generate” to start.
This process runs in the background. You can check its status as shown below. Once the status changes to “Generated”, click “View recommendations” to see the recommendations generated for that campaign.
If your campaign applies to a large number of products, generating recommendations for all eligible products will consume a significant number of AI credits. Check the required credits shown before confirming the generation.
FAQs
- Do I have to pre-generate recommendations? No. Your offers already work on every product. Pre-generating only removes the 30-second wait for the first shopper who triggers the offer.
- Does pre-generating cost extra credits? No. It uses the same 1 credit per product (2 credits if the Thinking model has been used) as normal generation.
- Why is the "Generate new" button disabled? You have unsaved changes. Save the campaign first, then click "Generate".
- Can I close the page while recommendations are generating? Yes. The run continues in the background. Come back and refresh to see the status.
- Where can I see credits usage? In the Selleasy AI banner in the Campaigns dashboard.
